Solar Panel Tech: N-Type, TopCon & Bifacial
Not all panels are equal. Discover why N-Type TopCon technology is now the standard for high-heat performance in Spain.
The Transition to N-Type
The solar industry has shifted from P-Type (boron-doped) to N-Type (phosphorus-doped). N-Type cells are immune to Light-Induced Degradation (LID) and have a superior 'Temperature Coefficient,' meaning they lose less efficiency as they get hotter—a critical factor in the 40°C summers of the Axarquía.
TopCon: The New Standard
TopCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) increases efficiency to ~23%. It reduces internal recombination, allowing more electricity to flow from each photon. Jinko, Trina, and Canadian Solar are currently leading this space with high-density modules.
Bifacial Benefits
Flat, white-painted roofs reflect light. Bifacial panels capture this 'Albedo' light on their rear side, increasing output by up to 15% for free compared to standard panels.
Warranties
Look for 25-year product and 30-year performance warranties. Quality panels should still produce >87% after three decades.
